1972 C10 — 408ci Stroker

Some customers you build for once, and then they keep coming back. This '72 Chevy C10 was built for a local repeat client who had a clear vision from the start: a truck that looked clean, sat right, and pulled hard. He wanted a driver he could fire up any day of the week and trust to get him there, with enough under the hood to make the trip worth it.

The foundation is a 6.0-litre LS-based engine we built in-house, stroked to 408 cubic inches. That extra displacement brings the kind of torque that moves a full-size C10 with real authority. No drama, just an easy surge of power the moment you roll into the throttle. Behind it sits a GM 4L80E four-speed automatic, a transmission that's proven itself behind big-power combinations for decades. It shifts firm and takes everything the 408 throws at it without a second thought.

Fuel management comes from a Holley Terminator standalone EFI system, a self-learning ECU that eliminates the guesswork from cold starts, altitude changes, and part-throttle drivability. This isn't a temperamental setup that needs constant fiddling. Once tuned, the Terminator handles everything from stop-and-go traffic to wide-open pulls with the same consistency you'd expect from a modern truck. We relocated the factory fuel tank from behind the seat to a frame-mounted fuel cell for safety and packaging, then ran all new fuel and brake lines to match. It's one of those upgrades that disappears visually but transforms how the truck lives day to day.

A full suspension lowering kit brought the stance down to where a C10 should sit. Level, planted, and purposeful. The drop eliminates the factory nose-up rake and gives the truck a presence that turns heads without shouting for attention. Inside, we installed vintage-style replacement gauges that keep the period-correct look of the dash while delivering accurate, modern readings. A tilt steering column rounds out the interior, making the cab a more comfortable place to spend time, especially for a truck that gets driven.

The body and paint work was handled separately by a body shop the customer works with directly. Our scope was to deliver a truck that started, stopped, and steered, a complete running, driving chassis ready for the next phase. Mechanicals first, cosmetics second: it's the order of operations that makes sense when you're building a vehicle you actually intend to use.

From the 408 stroker build to the Holley Terminator EFI install, the C10 lowering kit and suspension work to the fuel cell relocation, every decision on this truck was driven by one priority: making it a better driver. The owner's been behind the wheel ever since it rolled out, and that's the result we build for.
